Waste Management will be closed on Monday 1/26/26

Featured

Waste Management will be closed on Monday due to the winter storm.  They will be operating one day behind this week.  Monday service will be moved to Tuesday. Thank you in advance for your understanding. Also, please do not shovel your driveway or sidewalk onto the street, it is an ordinance violation. For your safety, please stay off the roads.

Notice on Inclement Weather/Activation of Warming Centers

The Township would like to notify residents that if there are substantial power outages, that warming centers will be activated, if necessary, at Scott Park in the Lodge for those in need during the upcoming storm. While our salt storage is not at full capacity due to issues with vendor supplies and delayed deliveries facing the entire South Hills region, we do have enough salt to get through the upcoming storm.  Later this year, thanks to a grant opportunity, the Township will be expanding its storage capacity to be able to have more salt on hand when needed. We do have sufficient salt for the upcoming storm; however, crews will be prioritizing plowing over salting as conditions require, and we ask for your patience as we work through the event. Please stay safe, monitor local updates, and keep off the roads, if possible, to allow crews to operate efficiently and safely.

Tree Disposal 2025

There are two ways that you can get rid of your Christmas tree in Scott Township this year:

Waste Management will be collecting live Christmas trees again this year.  The collection will be on January 6, 2026, as a part of the first bulk collection day of the year. Christmas trees will count as one bulk item.  We ask that the Christmas trees are cut into 4’ sections. According to Waste Management, “One tree, no matter how many 4’ sections, is considered one tree.”

Need it gone sooner? Miss the January 6 bulk collection? Can’t let go of the holidays? No worries! The Scott Conservancy will be collecting Christmas trees as well! There will be a pile at the Scrubgrass Run Trailhead, 1459 Scrubgrass Rd. The conservancy requests that you ensure ornaments, lights, etc. are removed from the tree before disposing of it. (Yes folks, it has happened before.) This collection does not have a formal end date at this time.

Have a safe and happy holiday season!
